PhD. Juan Amado Hinojosa joins Luyef as Senior Scientist. Seven years of experience in synthetic biology, molecular biology, and protein engineering. PhD from Universidad de Chile, where he won “Best Biotechnology Graduate 2017.”
More recently, Juan led DNA Assembly teams constructing over 1,500 high-complexity plasmids. His expertise spans precision gene editing, massive sequencing, and genetic circuit design.
Juan will be spearheading the design of expression systems for growth factor production in Pichia pastoris. This work addresses one of the biggest challenges in cellular agriculture today: cost reduction. Growth factors currently represent up to 35% of operational costs in cultivated meat production, making them a critical bottleneck for industry scalability.
By developing more efficient production systems, Juan will help unlock the potential for affordable, sustainable meat alternatives that can truly compete with conventional agriculture.
